Jesus Overcame
April 4, 2026

As Christians, we seek first the Kingdom of God and God’s righteousness, and we know this is all possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus overcame the evil in this world and what it means to be human. As Jesus overcame, so we must overcome ourselves. There was no free pass for Jesus and there is no free pass for Christians today. We must overcome. We acknowledge this not with fear and dread of failure because with God all things are possible. There is nothing impossible for God. When we look at the human condition and might consider how incredibly easy it is for people to fall short of the glory of God through sin, like the disciples we might wonder if any person could be saved. Jesus taught his disciples that God could do all things and they even came to see Jesus as doing all things. Jesus then reminded the disciples that through Him, they could have peace. He then confidently told them shortly before His death that He had overcome the world.

John 16:25-33
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God. Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

When I think of overcoming, I think of come-from-behind victories in sports. Watching a game where one team totally defeats the other team from beginning to end isn’t always fun to watch, unless it is your team that is winning. What is captivating is when a team finds themselves in a deficit and they work to overcome that deficit and win. Overcoming this world is like that, and since Jesus Christ overcame this world, we can have great confidence that as we are led by the Holy Spirit, we also will overcome this world. In the message to the Church of the Laodiceans, there is the admonishment to overcome just as Jesus Christ overcame. The church of the Laodiceans is described as a lukewarm church that sees itself as already having spiritually arrived, being rich and increased with goods, while not understanding it was in reality a very spiritually weak church. A person who thinks they have already spiritually matured probably will not spiritually mature much more. By default people are lazy, and if we think we can check something off a checklist, we will do it and consider it done. Instead of seeing ourselves as being spiritually mature, we need to see ourselves as still needing to overcome. Jesus extended a promise to the church of the Laodiceans that if they overcame, they would sit next to Him at His throne.

Revelation 3:14-22
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

When Jesus overcame, He destroyed the power of Satan, which is death. When Jesus overcame, then through His death and resurrection the power of death was defeated. Had Jesus not overcame, and instead been overcome by this world, what would await us would be much different than what we have in faith. Because Jesus overcame, His death and resurrection took away the power of death that Satan holds. The power that Satan has is death. In the Book of Job God allowed Satan to take the lives of Job’s children, and later allowed Satan to do anything to Job except for taking his life. Through the death of Jesus Christ that came after He overcame the world, death was defeated. Instead of eternal death is the hope of eternal life.

Hebrews 2:11-14
For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Because Jesus overcame, death was defeated and eternal life was established. That is one of the reasons why how we use the Holy Spirit is important. If all we do is have the Holy Spirit but mostly ignore it, we might overlook that the Spirit we have been given is not a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Knowing that Jesus overcame and defeated death while establishing eternal life, it should give us all the reason to do what is expected of us, knowing we are saved by what Jesus did and not anything we have done or will do.

2 Timothy 1:6-10
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

When Jesus overcame in life and was crucified it made it possible that we being dead to sins should live to righteousness. When Jesus taught to seek first the Kingdom of God and God’s righteousness, He already knew He would overcome making eternal possible for all who believe, who are led by the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 2:21-25
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

When Jesus overcame, died for our sins, and was resurrected, it made it possible for all who believe who are led by the Holy Spirit to be brought to God. Jesus is now on the right hand of God our Father who has given Jesus authority over angels, authorities, and powers.

1 Peter 3:18-22
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

When Jesus overcame, death was swallowed up in victory. It is through the overcoming of Jesus that God is able to wipe away tears from all faces as His people are brought to salvation. While we tend to think of a passage from the end of the Book of Revelation showing God wiping away all tears, we can see a similar passage in Isaiah, and from this we should discern that all prophecy yet to be fulfilled will be fulfilled in part because at one time Jesus overcame.

Isaiah 25:1-9
O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built. Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee. For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low. And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

In Hosea we see how a future King of Israel is identified and how Israel is ransomed from the grave and redeemed from death. Looking at these verses we know Jesus Christ is being spoken of, and all of this is possible because Jesus overcame.

Hosea 13:9-14
O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help. I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes? I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath. The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid. The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children. I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Jesus overcame and we must also overcome and our choice in overcoming is stark. We either overcome or we are overcome. There is no passive participation in Christianity as a faith. Our faith is a faith that overcomes, and our focus on overcoming is to overcome evil with good. Instead of allowing evil to overcome us, we overcome evil with good. Instead of surrendering to evil because evil bombards its message to us on a daily basis, we act as ambassadors for Jesus Christ who overcame, who endured evil so that in the end evil could be overcome with good. The love that we have has to be sincere. We hate evil and cling to that which is good. We appreciate others of the household of faith in brotherly love and find ways to bring honor to each other. We bless others even when they curse us. We are empathetic with those experiencing the range of emotions, from happiness to grief. We do not see ourselves as better than others, and when we consider where we are spiritually, we fairly evaluate where we are.

Romans 12:9-21
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

In the Book of Revelation, it is clearly shown there are three things that are needed for us to overcome. First, it is through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we are able to overcome. Without the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, there would be no ability for us to spiritually overcome. Beyond the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we must have a good understanding of what is written in the Bible. If we are to overcome evil with good, the righteousness of God, we have to understand what that is. Finally to overcome, we must value eternal life to come more than the physical life we have today. Between now and the return of Jesus Christ when our overcoming will be validated by Christ as we are either resurrected to eternal life or changed to spirit at his return, we will be part of the spiritual conflict that has existed since Satan rebelled against God. As things spiritually heat up during the end time, we will continue to overcome.

Revelation 12:1-11
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

When Jesus overcame and was crucified, the religious elites of His time thought Jesus had been proven to be a fraud, and that they were religiously vindicated. They never considered that through death Jesus would triumph. How we spiritually overcome may not be understood by the world in which we live. While we can use a sports analogy to compare overcoming versus being overcome, salvation is not a game to be played. The gift of eternal life that is made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is not something subject to what other people think. There is no philosophy or idea of man that comes between us and eternal life. There are no traditions that need to be followed to be given eternal life. We are complete in Jesus Christ, what He taught, how He overcame, and how He died for our sins and was resurrected.

Colossians 2:6-15
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Knowing we are complete in Jesus Christ, Who overcame and died for our sins and was resurrected, our attention needs to be on eternal life to come. As we seek the Kingdom of God and God’s righteousness living on Earth, we know God will provide our needs. We won’t live our lives on Earth ignoring our needs or the needs of others, because we have this comfort from God, but while we live our daily life now, we seek first the Kingdom of God and God’s righteousness.

Colossians 3:1-4
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Through Jesus Christ there is equality in faith. The world we live in is a biased world, and when Jesus overcame this world, part of what was overcome was the bias of this world. Name any part of the human condition within our world and there is bias, and bias tends to trickle down to even insignificant matters like a sports team. With Jesus Christ and God our Father, there is no bias. We are all one in Jesus Christ, and that means through Jesus Christ there is equality in faith, and we are all heirs of the promise given first to Abraham.

Galatians 3:21-29
Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Because Jesus overcame the world, died for our sins and was resurrected, we have become the children of God and an heir of God through Jesus Christ.

Galatians 4:1-7
Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

It was Jesus Who overcame, Who died for our sins, and was resurrected. Through this God shows His mercy to us so that we can have eternal life. Knowing of God’s mercy, and the incredible devotion of Jesus we must remember we are created in Jesus Christ for good works, and we must walk in those good works. We have not been called to a life of religious superiority where we simply think we are better than other people because we have been called at this time. What we do day in, and day out needs to reflect what God our Father and Jesus Christ would expect of us.

Ephesians 2:1-10
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace ye are saved; And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

We know God will supply our needs through Jesus Christ. As we are having our needs supplied, it might mean that the life we are living is different than what we might have expected. However we find ourselves, we need to be content. Some people focus on finding happiness, and happiness is not a destination to be found. Instead of seeking happiness, it is better to find contentment. It is when we can be content with what we have that we can have peace. If things are bad but we can be at peace, things will still be bad, but we will be at peace. If things are fantastic, but we cannot be at peace because we want more, no matter how great things are, we won’t be at peace. Because Jesus overcame, died for our sins, and was resurrected, we are able to understand this type of contentment, the contentment which brings peace.

Philippians 4:10-20
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

God our Father and Jesus Christ are foundational to the faith we have. Not everybody sees it that way. People who do not believe Jesus Christ has come in the flesh are collectively called as having the spirit of antichrist. Those who have the spirit of antichrist deny Jesus Christ, that He lived as a man, that He died for our sins, and was resurrected, and that He overcame. Too many people tend to think of antichrist as being an end-time bogey man styled as the antichrist, but the Book of Revelation speaks of the False Prophet and Beast. To style the False Prophet and Beast of Revelation as the antichrist could be problematic especially if somehow the False Prophet and Beast acknowledge that Jesus came in the flesh, because by the Bible’s own definition, how could they then be the False Prophet and Beast? Some tend to be super focused on end-time events. It is useful to know through prophecy how things will happen, but more important than knowing every last detail of prophecy is to be doing what is expected of us. Some fear end-time events. We do not need to be super focused on end-time events, nor do we need to fear these events. We need to take comfort that through the Holy Spirit we have been given, greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world, and because of God’s presence in our lives, we have overcome them. We can never lose sight that John writes that we have overcome them, those who have the spirit of antichrist. Each day we must live our lives affirming this.

1 John 4:1-6
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

How do we know we have overcome the world? John reminds us later in the same letter than those who believe Jesus is the Son of God are those who overcome the world.

1 John 5:1-5
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and everyone that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Knowing we are set up to overcome the world because we believe that Jesus is the Son of God and do those things affirming that belief, we have every reason to be thankful to God who causes us to triumph in Christ. Through Jesus Christ we not only overcome, but we also win a hard fought spiritual battle against Satan and the forces of darkness that seek our destruction. We can give thanks to God who brings us triumph in Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 2:14-17
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

It is through Jesus Christ, Who overcame, Who died for our sins and was resurrected that we are more than conquerors. Jesus overcame and we will overcome.

Romans 8:31-37
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Even human death does not keep us from salvation. Those who die in the faith will be resurrected at the last trumpet, and those of the faith who are alive at that time will be changed to spirit. No matter when or where a person of faith lives, all people of faith will be given victory in Jesus Christ, and we should take comfort knowing the life of faith we live today is not a life lived in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Finally, when the Book of Revelation shows that God will wipe away all tears from the eyes of mankind, that there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain because the former things are passed away, those things have passed away because of many things, including that Jesus overcame.

Revelation 21:1-4
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Jesus overcame and we too must also overcome, and we overcome the world by believing Jesus is the Son of God, that he came in the flesh, and we live a life aligned to the faith we have.
